OPERATION SANTA CLAUSE

movers operation santa clauseARROW MOVING AND STORAGE OF COLORADO SPRINGS – Art Lowenberg, our Customer Service Manager, who wears many hats, put on a new hat!  He helped Santa and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who hosted Lockheed Martin’s annual Operation Santa Claus on Dec. 14.

Hundreds of Lockheed employees, family members of all ages and other volunteers gathered at the church’s Webster Avenue building to sort, wrap and distribute gifts collected throughout the year for needy families. The assembly-line operation transformed the cultural hall as volunteers checked in, received family assignments, wrapped presorted gifts and selected and wrapped others, and then delivered the gifts, in addition to holiday food staples. Refreshments were provided by church members, who also donated homemade cookies for distribution with the gifts. Participants, both those who have been part of the project for many years and more recent arrivals, spoke of their desire to help others in the community and to teach their own children that Christmas is about much more than receiving presents.
The hundreds of children and families receiving support were referred by agencies and groups including the Salvation Army, Little Munchkins and Jewish Family Services.

FMCSA Ruling on Cell Phone Use—Hands Free Only

Late last month the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration made a final ruling on cell phone use in commercial motor vehicles. Effective 12/23/11, the use of hand held devices will be prohibited in vehicles over 10,000 lbs. Hands free devices (like Bluetooth) are allowed as long as the call can be answered with one button and is located conveniently near the driver. The only exception is when you need to use your hand held device to notify emergency personnel of an accident, hazard or potential terrorist threat. Citizen’s band (CB) radios are not covered in this new ruling so they do not currently have any prohibitions. Expect states to follow with their own regulations in the very near future. This ruling is an important step in reducing distracted driving on our nation’s highways.

MOVE FOR HUNGER

movers giving back to their communities

As of December 1st, Arrow of Cheyenne is excited to announce our participation in the Move For Hunger program.

As you are aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away.  That’s where we come in.

By teaming up with moving companies across the country, Move For Hunger is creating one of the nation’s largest, year-round service programs. Our movers offer to pick up unwanted, non-perishable food items durning the moving process and deliver it to their local food banks.

Arrow has always been committed to giving back to the communities in which we work. The Move for Hunger program is another great way to help those in need.  For more information go to MoveForHunger.org.

New Location for Arrow in Salt Lake City

Arrow Moving and Storage of Salt Lake City have moved to a new facility! The new building is over 39,000 square feet with plenty of room for storage and newly renovated office space.  The warehouse backs up to one of the busiest highways in the city, so thousands of people see our trucks and large billboard sign everyday.  On November 15th we celebrated the grand opening with food and great prizes donated by some of Arrow’s business partners. Congratulations to Lance and the Salt Lake team for their hard work and dedication which made purchasing this great facility possible!

Arrow Moves Sweetwater School District #1

Arrow Moving and Storage of Salt Lake City just wrapped up the move for the Sweetwater school district #1 last month with great success.  From the start we knew this would be a large and challenging project that had the potential to be very profitable with high customer service levels if planned and executed properly.  After the initial walk through with Mr. Paul Grube, superintendent of the school district, I thought it would be best to have Lance help me formulate a plan of attack.  With his help we decided to do a second walk through with the some of the key players.  Jim, Lance, Garrett, and I met with Mr. Grube, and the staff of the Jr. High to go over our game plan and our expectation for the move.  We were able to avoid a lot of potential problem by answering the teacher’s questions and directing them as to what to expect on move day.

Lead by Jeff, the move was completed ahead of schedule with no problems.  A week after completion I was contacted by Mr. Grube, thanking us on a great job.  We are working to build on this positive experience and hopefully become the sole provider for the schools in Wyoming.  Special thanks to Jim, Lance, Jeff and Garrett for making this special project look like business as usual for the Salt Lake Arrow office.
